Fun and Fabulous 50's Style Wedding
With signs and stationery by Cink Art and vivid florals by My Flower Box Events, today's styled soiree is all kinds of fun and fabulous! And we're just beyond thrilled to share the sweet snaps that Leo Dj Photography captured on this day.
"To portray elegance, we incorporated hints of gold in the picture frames and tableware."
"The bold red colors are apparent in the flowers, straws, invitation, cupcakes, even to the smallest details such as the cherry over the milkshakes and the cupcakes."
We told you this shoot was all kinds of fun and fabulous. Were we right? Or were we right?
From the photographer, "For this shoot we wanted to do something fresh and unique. Being in Eastern Shore Maryland, we wanted to stay away from the more typical nautical themes and colors that we see so often in this area."
"We also thought that it would be so chic to use Audrey's sunglasses along with an ivory parasol. The Bridal dress shop, Bridals by Elena, presented several styles of the era."
"First, a simple yet elegant satin A-line gown McCall from Sottero and Midgley"
"For the groom, we opted for a 3-piece suit with bow tie and saddle shoes."
"My Flower Box Events also thought had the idea to place the boutonniere on his pocket instead of on his lapel."
See the dress change that happened just now? So super pretty, if you ask us!
From the bridal style all the way down to the tiniest of details... there's just so much to love!
And these vivid colors? Wow! Stop what you're doing and pin. this. bouquet!
More from the designer, "To create the look of the "Elegant 50’s" themed wedding stationery, we researched advertisements and publications of the 1950’s era."
"The challenge was to make the invitation more formal and elegant, and still capture the fun, “campy” and more casual style of the 50’s..."
"...which is why the fonts were chosen to compliment the geometric shaped design elements that were directly from the era."
"We added some greenery because in that time period everyone used them to finish their florals."
"... so that the modern bride could still identify while being drawn in by the classiness of the era and overall feel of the shoot."
"We used Red Hearts Roses, Tulips (dark pink parrot and red double), red Dahlias, Anemones, Mokaras, Ranunculus, Hydrangeas, Cymbidium, Gloriosas , Plumosas, and Smilax."
And these desserts by Peace of Cake? Holy swoon! These are so adorable.
The wedding gowns and jewelry came from Bridals by Elena and they couldn't have been lovelier!
"The motifs were then continued into the day-of stationery for the wedding program, coke bottle straw place cards and signage."
Inspired by late 50's to early to early 60's movies, especially by Audrey Hepburn's timeless style and elegance, there's just so much to love about this bold and beautiful design. So let's take a look shall we?
"We watched numerous 50's movies, got inspirations from books, and grabbed ideas from all kinds of places. As we were juggling ideas, lots of creative scenarios came up."
"Ultimately, we decided on a color palette of red and sea foam green. We wanted it to be a classy look, reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's."
"For the bride, her look was complete with red lipstick, a crown, and classy satin gloves just like the ladies used to wear in that era."
"We also thought that it would be so chic to use Audrey's sunglasses along with an ivory parasol. The Bridal dress shop, Bridals by Elena, presented several styles of the era."
"We opted to showcase two completely different bridal looks for this shoot."
"... and the second, an alluring ball gown designed by Maggie Sottero with delicate lace bodice and flowing tulle skirt, accented with a Swarovski crystal belt."
From the statoinery designer, "We thought it would be sweet to infuse a bit of rock ‘n’ roll-styled diners popular in the 50's by using Coca Cola bottles, striped straws, and milkshake."
From the floral designer, "We selected mostly reds for the "pop" of color in contrast to the black, creams, and turquoise. The pink was used to help blend into the lighter shades."
"We added some greenery because in that time period everyone used them to finish their florals."
"We also wanted the flowers to be a little more fun or playful than what that time period called for..."
"... so that the modern bride could still identify while being drawn in by the classiness of the era and overall feel of the shoot."
"We used Red Hearts Roses, Tulips (dark pink parrot and red double), red Dahlias, Anemones, Mokaras, Ranunculus, Hydrangeas, Cymbidium, Gloriosas , Plumosas, and Smilax."
